About the authors

CLAYTON M. CHRISTENSEN: Clayton M. Christensen, a professor of business administration at Harvard Business School since 1992, is the bestselling author of five books, a renowned management consultant, and a seasoned entrepreneur. His research and teaching interests center on managing innovation, creating new growth markets, and making practical the theory of disruption by focusing on problems of strategy, innovation and growth. Through Innosight (www.innosight.com), the Watertown, MA-based consulting firm he co-founded in 2000, Professor Christensen has used his theory of disruptive innovation to shape the management strategies of well-known industry giants, such as Procter & Gamble, General Motors and Credit Suisse. Of Professor Christensen’s five published books, his seminal work is The Innovator’s Dilemma (1997), which received the Global Business Book Award for the best business book of the year. In 2008, he will release Disrupting Class and The Innovator’s Prescription, groundbreaking examinations of two of America’s most important public sectors through the lens of disruption. MICHAEL B. HORN: Michael B. Horn is the co-founder and Executive Director, Education of Innosight Institute (www.innosightinstitute.org), a non-profit think tank devoted to applying the theory of disruptive innovation to develop solutions to problems in the social sector. A graduate of Harvard Business School, he contributed research for Barbara Kellerman’s 2004 release, Bad Leadership: What It Is, How It Happens, Why It Matters, and Charles Ellis’ book, Joe Wilson and the Creation of Xerox. Horn has been the featured speaker at numerous education conferences, including the National Evaluation Systems’ conference and the Grantmakers for Education Conference. Prior to business school, he worked in the world of politics and public policy, as he served as David Gergen’s research assistant. Horn graduated from Yale University with distinction in History.

CURTIS W. JOHNSON: Curtis W. Johnson, Ph.D. is a writer, facilitator, consultant and speaker whose former titles include college president, head of a public policy research organization, and policy advisor and chief of staff to a governor. He is the co-author of two books, Citistates (1993) and Boundary Crossers (1997), and the president of Citistates Group, which publishes feature reports on strategic issues facing America’s metropolitan areas and suggests policy changes that could shape the regions’ futures. A regular on conference speaking line-ups, Dr. Johnson has helped major business organizations develop positions on key issues and find ways to collaborate across political jurisdictions on strategic regional issues. He holds a doctorate from the College of Education at the University of Texas.
